Surrounded by ancient forests and situated on the hilly plateau, Sv.Petar u Šumi, is the most unusual Istrian town. A typical Istrian architecture is less frequent here and the impact of the northen countries is noticeable in its construction. Houses scattered throughout Sveti Petar are still covered with stone shutters, gray because of the time.

It is widely known for its beautiful baroque church of St. Peter and Paul and Pauline monastery, with stone walls, surrounded by a garden and a large square in front of the church and monastery, where one of the oldest Glagolitic monuments - the Supetar fragment was found.

Through Sv. Petar passes railway line connecting it with Pula and Slovenia. Distance to the sea (Porec) 25 km, to Pazin as a larger center is 15 km away and to Pula airport 50 km
